Despite struggling to meet all of their commitments, both Isabel and Andy came up from London to see how Tempus Novo is leading on offender rehabilitation. After a tour of HMP Leeds and meeting some of our employers, they were also introduced to our service users (employees) who told them what it is that is different about TN and how their lives have changed since engaging with us.
It is an interesting story how Tempus Novo came about, part of it down to a report called “Locked Up Potential” which was in fact commissioned by the Centre for Social Justice in 2009.The author of that report was Jonathan Aitken (former minister, former offender)who is now our president, and it was written to challenge the status quo on prisoner rehabilitation. The report contained many sensible recommendations, some of which we implemented in our business model.
Having witnessed close up the difference we are making to peoples lives here in Yorkshire, I’m sure Isabel and Andy will be as good as their word, and pass on to the decision makers in London, just how important it is to support organisations like Tempus Novo.
