Building Trust and Support

The Role of Tempus Novo's Caseworkers in Corporate Partnerships

Our mission is not only to help ex-offenders reintegrate into society but also to ensure that our corporate partners feel safe and supported throughout the process. Our caseworkers play a crucial role in maintaining this delicate balance, and today, we'd like to shed light on an incident that exemplifies the dedication and commitment of our team.

Recently, we encountered a challenging situation involving one of our candidates who had just started working with one of our longstanding corporate partners. His behaviour towards the head of HR was unacceptable and caused significant concern. In response, we made the difficult decision to withdraw him from his employment after only a couple of days. Our priority was not only the success of our candidate but also the well-being of our corporate partner's employees.

We understood the importance of addressing this issue promptly and effectively. We reached out to the candidate in question, attempting to engage in a constructive conversation to help him understand the gravity of the situation. However, he remained steadfast in his belief that he had done nothing wrong and could not comprehend why his actions had caused fear in his colleague.

Here is where the exceptional dedication of our caseworkers comes into play.

Another employee who had started on the same shift came forward with information that supported what we had been told by our corporate partner. This testimony confirmed our concerns and emphasised the need to take further action.

After gathering all the necessary information, our team wasted no time. We visited the prison to discuss the situation with the candidate and assess how we could best support his rehabilitation and reintegration efforts. Subsequently, Paul, our Senior Operations Manager, and Fiona, our caseworker, met with the general manager of the business at that location. This manager had witnessed the problematic behaviour and was understandably upset that his colleague had been put in such a situation.

In this critical meeting, our team had the opportunity to explain the actions we had taken to support their colleague and apologised directly for the unpleasant experience. We wanted to assure our partner that their concerns were valid and that we were committed to rectifying the situation promptly.

Remarkably, the general manager appreciated our transparency and support. He expressed gratitude for our assistance and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the ROTL (Release on Temporary License) process. This experience served as a testament to the strength of our relationship with our corporate partners, built on trust, transparency, and our unwavering dedication to rehabilitation and reintegration.

This incident highlights the multifaceted role of our dedicated caseworkers. While our primary focus is on the rehabilitation of ex-offenders, we also recognise the importance of nurturing positive relationships with our corporate partners. By addressing difficult situations head-on, offering support, and maintaining open lines of communication, we can ensure that everyone involved feels safe, supported, and valued throughout the reintegration process.

This is just one example of how we remain committed to our mission and the success of both our candidates and our corporate partners.
