It was at our launch event last week when I realised just how far we have come and how many "ancient rules" we have smashed to get this far. I’m a massive believer that if you do what you’ve always done, then you’ll get what you’ve always got, and this is something TN does not subscribe to.
Our approach to taking calculated risks and going out and making it happen, culminated in a moment I will treasure forever on Thursday evening. A young boy of about 10 years old came up to me and said "thank you for helping my dad" and as I looked up, he was with one of our graduates Simon. I had been locking Simon up since the 1990’s and it turns out it is his son. Simon has been in work 4 months now and is a great role model to his little boy.
I really don’t think I can express on here just how that felt. To be thanked by a young boy for helping essentially to give him a better life was so rewarding, and worth every minute of the thousands of voluntary hours that have gone in to this ground breaking project so far.
I would like to mention that although the majority of those hours are Val and I, there are many other people who should be mentioned and recognised for creating something very special indeed in Tempus Novo(you all know who you are) and I would personally like to say a massive thank you!
Changing Lives is an infectious business. We have only just begun !!
