Richard’s Story

Richard has come a long way since his time in and out of prison. It’s never too late to turn your life around!

Richard began to have problems whilst still at school, with his exclusion from school at the age of 13 ultimately beginning his experience with petty crime. Following from this, Richard was repeatedly convicted and imprisoned.

After more than 10 years of being in and out of prison, Richard finally realised that there was more to life and a better way to make the living he wanted to make. He regrets the precious time he will no longer get back.

Richard began studying whilst still in prison and achieved a qualification in painting and decorating.

Following his release from his final sentence, Richard got in touch with our team at Tempus Novo after hearing about our initiative whilst still in prison. We immediately supported him and helped him to get a job within two weeks.

Richard impressed the company with his work ethic, but after 2 years of employment Richard felt that the role was no longer suitable for him. Tempus Novo once again supported him in finding his next and current job at a company manufacturing and fitting airconditioning systems. Richard loves his job and it has truly helped him to turn his life around.

“My advice to young people who may be attracted to crime is don't make the mistakes I made. I wasted ten years of my life through being involved in crime. I almost lost my family and honestly believe it's just not worth it. Crime doesn't pay! Although you might make a few quid it's not worth losing the best years of your life and the memories you could be making with family and friends”
